Some materials earn a second chance.
Founded by sailor and maker Ben Sclarow on the coast of Long Beach Island, New Jersey, LBI One transforms retired sails and marine materials into handcrafted bags and accessories designed for life well beyond the dock.
Each piece begins with a sail that has already traveled thousands of miles under wind and weather. Sourced directly from sailmakers, yacht clubs, sailing programs, and boat owners, these materials are carefully cleaned, sorted, and reimagined into functional goods built to last. Weathered stitching, sail numbers, patches, and marks of use are intentionally preserved, making every piece entirely one of a kind.
Working with high-performance materials such as Dacron, racing laminates, and carbon fiber composites, LBI One combines maritime heritage with thoughtful craftsmanship. The result is a collection of durable, beautifully made goods that carry the character of their previous voyage into their next chapter.
At Mercer, we appreciate objects with a sense of place and purpose. LBI One's bags and accessories embody both—proof that great design often begins with a good story and a second wind.
